This following is a list of places and times in Massachusetts where potential pet seekers can adopt animals.* Resources include permanent adoption sites (e.g., animal shelters, etc.), regularly scheduled or recurring adoption events (e.g., events occurring weekly), one-time adoption events or fairs, and information for groups that do not have physical facilities (e.g., rescue groups whose animals are housed in foster homes until they are adopted). Please note that many groups without physical facilities will operate in multiple locations within Massachusetts, beyond the town/city under which they are listed.

Some adoption resources focus on only a specific type of animal (e.g. dogs only or cats only); that information is listed as well. If there is no animal information, that adoption site or event might have multiple types of animals available (e.g. dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, ferrets, reptiles, etc.).
