Special Lecture on "The Calgary Model"
Malden, MA
The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Center for Shelter Dogs' special lecture featuring Bill Bruce, Director of Animal and Bylaw Services for the City of Calgary, Alberta. Bill’s innovative animal services program, also known as “The Calgary Model,” revolutionizes the way dog owners, local officials, animal related groups, and animal control officers work together on canine-related challenges in their communities. Bill will discuss how Calgary implemented this successful model and its focus on building a responsible pet owner community by utilizing partnerships, education, and enforcement when necessary. The Calgary model, which is self-sustaining through revenues, has been a great success for the city of Calgary. Some achievements include lower bite incidents, low euthanasia and high owner return rates, and strong licensing compliance without targeting specific dog breeds or pet limits.

How to submit information for approrpiate events (educational opportunities, fundraisers, and events -- mostly):
The easiest thing for you to do is to follow this format:
Date:
Name of event of very short title/summary:
Location and hours:
Description of event (please no more than a sentence or two)
Contact info: can include email, website, phone, etc.
Send this info to info@massanimalcoalition.org. While we love to look at pretty .pdfs, it does take longer to tease out the relevant info and make and event entry. So, for everyone's benefit, following this format is most productive. The email and website is volunteer staffed, so please allow several days before your listing makes it up on the site. We do get a lot of emails, so if you don't see your submission, please follow-up to make sure it wasn't accidentally overlooked or deemed spam by the email server. Thank you.
Please note that MAC does not endorse events unrelated to MAC and posts entries as a service to the animal sheltering/protection community.
