Shelter Statistics Task Force
The goal of this task force is to create a reporting mechanism through which shelters in Massachusetts can report certain statistics, such as the number of animals taken in, adopted, euthanized, transferred, etc. The reason this is important is because there is no central data gathering in Massachusetts and we do not know how many homeless animals are cared for each year, how many animals find homes or are euthanized. Having these statistics will provide important information that will allow shelter and rescue organizations to target their efforts and collaborate. The statistics can be used to help fund spay/neuter and otherwise give credence to the problems of too many homeless animals.
